Wind turbine main bearing: located between the hub and main shaft of the wind turbine, or between the main shaft and the gearbox, it needs to withstand huge radial force, axial force and overturning moment from the wind rotor. For example, in a 2MW wind turbine, the main bearing may need to withstand loads of up to thousands of kilonewtons. Its performance directly affects the stability and reliability of the wind turbine. Once the main bearing fails, it may cause the entire wind turbine to shut down for maintenance, causing huge economic losses.
Variable pitch bearing: installed at the root of the wind turbine blade, used to achieve blade pitch operation, that is, adjust the angle of the blade to control the speed and output power of the wind rotor. Variable pitch bearings need to work under complex load conditions, including periodic bending stress, torsional stress and impact loads.
