1. Background of development
Since the bearings installed in machine tool spindles need to have good precision and usability, such products are generally suitable for the "P4S" accuracy level of the German DIN standard.
In recent years, the demand for high precision of machine tools has continued to increase, and JTEKT has begun to develop bearings that surpass conventional products in terms of accuracy, service life and quiet performance*2. DAIBEA Izumi Branch Factory has successfully manufactured bearings that are equal to or higher than the German DIN standard "P4S" accuracy standard and "P2" bearings that achieve "highest precision" rotation.

2. Features of the new product ("P2" bearing)
The "P2" bearing achieves the five basic performances of a bearing at a high level, namely "high-precision rotation", "silent rotation", "fast rotation", "light rotation" and "long-term rotation".
① High-precision rotation (accuracy)
By improving the accuracy of each bearing component, the rotation accuracy is 4 times that of the current product.
② Silent rotation (silent performance)
The smoothness of the rolling surface has been improved, and the dynamic performance of the ball and cage has been improved to reduce shaking and vibration, and the vibration value is about 50% of the current product.
③ Fast rotation (high speed)
By adopting a new strong and tough high-nitrogen stainless steel in the raceway, the maximum speed has been increased by about 30% compared to general bearing steel products.
④ Light rotation (low torque)
Compared with the current product, some resistance factors of rolling motion have been eliminated, and the rotation torque has been reduced by about 30%.
⑤ Long-term rotation (long life)
Instead of using small-diameter ceramic balls that are good for high-speed rotation, large-diameter ceramic balls are used, which increases their life to about twice that of current products.

3. Actual results when assembling the spindle
① Improved assembly performance and rotation accuracy
The rotation accuracy of the bearing is very high, so there is no need to adjust the phase of the maximum radial vibration position, and the vibration accuracy of the spindle hardly needs to be adjusted, and the axis runout is ≤1μm.
② Reduced axis runout during high-speed rotation
At a speed of 30,000 min-1, the spindle runout was reduced by half compared to the spindle assembled with the current product.
③ Increased speed
The maximum speed was increased by 35% compared to the current product.
